2015 Volvo XC90 redesign may not be making its expected debut till later on in August, but the Swedish car maker has gone ahead and released pictures and some details of the expected model’s 3-row seats of the crossovers’ stylish interior. The 2015 XC90 will also be the first vehicle from this automaker to use their new (SPA) Scaleable Product Architercture.

Volvo says the XC90’s interior was inspired by the beauty, functionality and simplicity that have now become the trademark of this Scandinavian model design.a touchscreen the size of a tablet is expected to be fitted on its dashboard and will take control of the center stack taking control of the infotainment system which includes the internet related services and the navigation as well as other controls like the audio.
The materials used to finish its interior are the dark flame birch wood and the Nappa leather. The gear stick is made of crystals made by the Swedish Glass maker-Orrefors, while its controls for start/stop and volume buttons are diamond cut.
Robert Page, the director of interior design, Volvo cars, said that, “These details, add about fashionable playfulness other than pure functionality to this elegant design.”
The seats of the 2015 XC90 AWD model have been newly designed with an ergonomic shape that resembles the human spine. Its standard seats are characterized by; power adjustable (seat cushion extension, side bolsters, headrest height and multi-directional-lumbar-support), while on the other hand the available contour seats will offer more side support. The massage and ventilation functions are optional.
This 3-row, 7-passenger crossover shall also feature self-folding seats in both the 2nd and 3rd rows. Further, Volvo says the 3rd row can comfortably lift riders to a height of 5’7” in part resulting from the foot space beneath the 2nd row seats. A power folding option is also available for the third row.
The 2015 XC90 features a 3-zone climate control that’s standard to the front seats and the 2nd row seats, while in the 3rd row, -air conditioning system is optional thus giving this crossover a 4-zone climate system.
The 2015 XC90 shall be redesigned on a new platform, under the name SPA –Scalable Platform Architecture that is mainly forged out of boron steel. This innovation will see that this vehicle has a reduced total weight by up to 300 pounds.
The prototype has a camouflage color that is used at the moment as it’s still under design now, but is expected to have diverse vinyls for coating once it has been released. Also, this Swedish vehicle will have a revised exterior design, which will be dominated by the Volvo XC coupe and concept coupe’s style which were both presented in the previous year at the Frankfurt motor show and later on at the Detroit motor show.
